Julie Borlaug is a recognized leader in international agricultural development, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement, bringing over two decades of expertise to global initiatives aimed at ending hunger and fostering sustainable innovation. As the granddaughter of Dr. Norman Borlaug, Julie continues to champion her family’s legacy by advancing collaborative partnerships across sectors to accelerate agricultural innovation and improve global food security.

Currently, Julie is the President of Borlaug Consulting and the Borlaug Foundation, where she advises corporate and NGO clients on stakeholder engagement, external communications, and relationship building to enhance organizational growth and influence. In her role, she fosters partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and the private sector, while serving as an ambassador for agricultural advancement at conferences and international forums.

Julie has held leadership roles in both corporate and academic settings. At Texas A&M University, she served as Director of Strategic Initiatives at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, where she developed programs to engage agribusiness sectors, multinational corporations, universities, and government entities. She also served as Associate Director for External Relations at the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture, where she led external communication strategies and fostered synergistic agricultural partnerships with public, private, and international organizations for international agricultural development programs.

Her corporate leadership includes roles as Vice President of External Relations at Inari and Vice President of Corporate Communications & External Relations at Invaio Sciences, both Flagship Pioneering companies. She built collaborative relationships with government officials and stakeholders in these roles, developed thought leadership initiatives, and represented her organizations at global events. Julie began her career with roles at the American Cancer Society, The Science Place, and The Salvation Army, where she developed expertise in donor relations, corporate development, and strategic partnerships.

Julie serves on numerous boards and advisory councils, including the Council of Advisors for the World Food Prize Foundation, the Board of Trustees for the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST), the Global Farmer Network, Counterpart International, AgTech PR, and the Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program. She has also contributed to the Champion’s Council Network for the UN Food Systems Summit and U.S. National Food Systems Dialogues.

Julie earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science from Texas A&M University and holds an MBA from the University of Dallas. Known for her expansive industry connections and commitment to fostering innovation, she continues to be a driving force in advancing agricultural solutions for global challenges.
